O.K., more about the trip!
After a really enjoyable visit with Mary-Jean and Conrad while in Calgary, we headed west towards Canmore, a town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains!
That was on the 29th of June.
After finishing walking that day, we refueled on some giant hamburgers from the famous Peter's Drive-In and headed for Canmore. The drive from Calgary to Canmore took about an hour and a half.
Day 1 in Canmore! Just like that, the scenery was completely different!
Canmore lies just outside the boundary of Banff National Park, so you don't need a Park Pass to go there. Even though it is not in a National Park, the scenery was absolutely beautiful just the same! It was as though we were surrounded by the Rocky Mountains!
Steve really enjoyed doing his walk in such beautiful surroundings!

Steve spotted some rock climbers on this cliff face. Can you see them? |

We were fortunate to be able to stay a few nights in Canmore at a friend of Steve's parents. It's really too bad, but we don't have any pictures of our time with our gracious host: Les!
Les is a volunteer guide and part of a local hiking club, so he knows the area very well. The picture above is in fact one of the trails that Steve was able to enjoy thanks to Les's advice.
Thank you so much for offering to have us stay at such short notice! That was truly kind of you and we thank you!!

There was a big event on while we were in Canmore (which made Less's offer timely as well as gracious!): CANADA DAY!!
