Corn Maze!

Back towards the beginning of October we went to check out a "Corn Maze" out in the countryside!

Karina had been before, but this was our first time to a Corn Maze.  As the name implies, it is a field of corn that has had a maze cut into it.  This particular variety of corn grows tall and is good for two things: cow grazing and maze building!  It's a strange idea, but also a lot of fun!  The admission fee helps raise a bit of money for the local Food Bank! It's also good for stimulating terrible jokes, like: I am sure glad we came here because this is aMAIZing! And other such corny comments....oops, there I go again.
Here is Steve showing one of the cobs of corn.  He is holding one of the question sheets in his mouth.  There are numbered sign-posts scattered throughout the maze - which corresponds to a question on the sheet.  Depending on what you think the answer is, you proceed either right or left.  There were a variety of themed question sheets at the entrance, and we seemed to have picked up one of the more difficult ones...so we just started "going with our gut"....ya, ...we got pretty lost.
We somehow made our way to the raised lookout at the center of the maze where we were able to sort ourselves out.  The corn was much taller than I am, so it was easy to get lost!  Karina told me that another  year was a bad crop and the stocks sagged over...  I would have rocked that maze like David Bowie in Labyrinth! (loose translation)

It wasn't all just a Maze of Maize, there was a farm animal petting zoo, some picnic tables and fire pits to "make a little party", and peddle go-carts, too!  There were plenty of families and kids there that day.

Well, it was our first Corn Maze!  Thanks Karina and Joan!
